Food Allergy Awareness Week
Help spread the word about the 14th annual Food Allergy Awareness Week (FAAW), May 8-14, 2011. This year help those with food allergies and “Be a FAAN Hero.”
Here are five ways you can get involved:
- Text five friends with a fact about food allergies and encourage them to forward it to their friends. Here are some examples:

- Food allergies are serious. Don’t make jokes about them. Visit www.faanteen.org for more info. Please FWD to 5 friends.
- Don’t share food with friends who have food allergies. Visit www.faanteen.org for more info. Please FWD to 5 friends.
- Ask what foods to which your friends are allergicand help them avoid those foods. Visit www.faanteen.org for more info. Please FWD to 5 friends.
- If a friend who has a food allergy becomes ill, get help immediately. Visit www.faanteen.org for more info. Please FWD to 5 friends.
- Become a fan of “The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network” on Facebook, and invite five friends to join. With your parents’ permission, share your FAAW activities, pictures, and videos. All of FAAN’s fans on Facebook will have four opportunities to win a free 1-year membership during May. One winner will be selected every Friday.
- Make a presentation to a local elementary school about your experience with food allergies and pass out Be a PAL™ Hero awards.
- Write about your experience with food allergies and send to local media with this news release attached, with your parents’ permission.
- Make a video to educate your friends about food allergies. With your parents’ permission, post the video on the Facebook and share it with FAANPAL on YouTube.
