Food Allergies in the Real World

Dear FaanTeen

Featured Advice

I have a friend who knows about my food allergy, and she is constantly looking out for me, which is great — to an extent. Every time I go to put a piece of food in my mouth, she jumps all over me. “Did you check the ingredients?” “Is that safe?” “Are you sure that doesn’t have any nuts in it?” I am grateful that she cares, but she’s beginning to remind me of my mom. How can I make her understand this?
